The Growth of BRAVE: A Journey of Unity and Accessibility

Supporting our clients through their healing journeys asks a lot from us as trauma therapists, doesn't it?

But like me, you know that this is more than a job—we’re called to do trauma work, but that doesn’t mean we always have our needs met along the way. That's exactly why I created The BRAVE Trauma Therapist Collective. It's our space, where we can come as we are, find what we need, and connect with fellow trauma therapists who understand what it’s like to do this work that we love.

I’ve wanted BRAVE to be easily accessible since day 1, and since starting BRAVE in October 2022 I’ve been learning a lot about what that means for all the diverse members we support. This past December, I thought adding a lower-priced tier would improve access, which it certainly did, but it unfortunately also introduced a lack of equality for our members. This didn’t sit right with me, was not value-aligned, so I decided to change things and today I’m going to spill the tea and tell you all the things!

Unveiling the New $9 Membership Model

When I first dreamt up BRAVE, my goal was to finally create a space where trauma therapists could get the support they deserve. A place where we could find the tools and people we need without stretching ourselves too thin. Now, with our new $9 membership model, my original goals are even more real as we're taking down financial barriers and reaffirming our belief that quality support should be accessible, not a luxury.

The old tiered model? It was a start, but we've outgrown it. It wasn't sitting right that not everyone could access everything BRAVE has to offer. Inspired by our collective mission of inclusivity, I decided it's time for a change.

Now, everyone gets the full support of The BRAVE Trauma Therapist Collective

No matter which tier you started on. It's about giving everyone the same chance to learn, connect, and grow.

This isn’t just about changing a price tag; it's about us, moving forward together, ensuring everyone has equal access to the community, learning, and resources they need.

This decision grew from the core values that define us. Equal footing isn’t just a nice idea; it’s essential. So here we are, stepping up, shaping a model that mirrors our commitment to every single trauma therapist out there.

Why We're Changing: A Commitment to Our Core

This isn't just about simplifying membership fees; it's a move that's deeply rooted in what BRAVE stands for. It's about showing that every member, every voice, is equally important. We're tearing down barriers, ensuring that we're all moving forward, together, in this journey.

We're here to challenge the status quo, to ensure that no one's left out because of their financial situation. This is our stand for equality, for making sure that every trauma therapist, regardless of their background, has access to our collective strength and support.

This decision, sparked by a lot of soul-searching after introducing the tier model in December 2023, is my way of sticking to my principles. I couldn’t have done this alone though. Yes, I made the final decision, but thanks to insights and support from people like Tawanna Woolfolk, I've been reminded that staying true to our values is what BRAVE is all about. This change is a testament to that—our collective dedication to a world where support and learning are universally accessible.

The Future of BRAVE: Growing Together

As we embrace this new model, we're not just changing how we operate; we're setting a new standard for what community and support should look like in our field. And we’re not stopping here. With plans for a sponsorship program, we're opening doors even wider, making sure that anyone who needs BRAVE can be a part of us.

This is just the beginning. As we continue to grow and evolve, so will our ability to support each other. So, I invite you, whether you’ve been here from the start or are just joining us, to be part of this exciting chapter. Let's make BRAVE not just a community, but a movement, where every trauma therapist finds the support they deserve.
